11/5/2017 0 Comments Styling a Red Hat for SpringI'm really sorry for the lack of blog content, again. Life has been a little bit crazy in the last few weeks, and had culminated in a few stressful situations recently, so I haven't had much time to finish posts. However, I am back! And with quite a few posts ready to go - so I hope you enjoy. Ever since this red hat came into my life (it belongs to my sister but she left it at my house, so let's face it, she's not getting it back any time soon...), I've hardly been able to take it off. Due to the intermittent weather I assumed I'd only wear it for added warmth, but on the contraire, this hat has become so much more than that. I find myself often struggling to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe - I'm always leaning towards pieces in black, white or navy, and this really has to stop. The most colour I usually have within an outfit is from a pair of blue jeans, and that's saying something. Come Springtime, I'm always looking to incorporate a little bit more of a pop of colour into my daily outfits, and what better way to do that than by challenging myself with an accessory rather than just an item of clothing. Here are a few outfits I've been wearing recently that include this bright piece of headwear (that I don't think I'll be able to give back to my sister). 1.Trench coat - Aquascutum / Funnel Neck Top - Whistles / Jeans - Topshop / Ankle Boots - Topshop (similar here) / Bag - Vintage On a particularly blustery day in the city, I opted for a casual, but still very 'London girl' look. I love pairing retro ankle boots with a sleek trench coat as I find the contrast in styles actually work really well together - add a pair of straight leg jeans and a striped top and you've got a relatively casual look. However, the colour palette is still pretty basic: beige, blue and black. By adding a pop of red into this outfit your eye is immediately drawn to the reddish tones in the brown bag, and the sleek contrast between the beige and red is really eye catching. 2.Denim Jacket - Gap / Sweatshirt - Whistles / Skinny Jeans - Zara / Trainers - Adidas Superstars / Scarf - Primark I love how effortless this outfit felt when I was wearing it, it was super comfortable. I love mixing patterns so I paired this Breton jumper with a houndstooth scarf for a slightly edgier look, and by adding a bright hat you instantly add that pop of colour that an outfit like this needs in the springtime - it instantly lifts this outfit and makes it more fun. 3.I really wanted an outfit that was simple but also very chic to go with my hat, something where all the elements combined together could create a great look for a day party or event. The plain white shirt is a wardrobe staple for practically everyone, but I really wanted to go for something a little more special - enter this ruffled white shirt: crisp, well tailored, but a lot more eye catching. A pair of men's straight leg jeans from Gap to take the edge off, and then these beautiful embroidered slides from Ego. Slides and mules are all the rage at the moment, and I am in love with this pair, very reminiscent of a current pair by Gucci - I'm honestly not a fan of knock offs, but when a pair of faux shoes only cost 25 quid and are actually comfortable, there's no question for me. And finally, the hat. The pop of colour to tie in the outfit and have you ready for Spring. * My sisters hat is originally from France and I currently can't find any alternatives, but I'll do my best and link something when I find it! I hope you all enjoyed this post - what accessories have you been wearing for Spring? x
